Kris Is Coming Back To White Plains At The End Of November

Hello, everyone! How have you been?

I have not written anything in this blog page such a long time, but I finally have something to write here. Yes, I am coming back to NY at the end of November. It has been very difficult for me to decide when to come back there, but JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) , which a few of members will take makes me decide to come at the end of November. I am very glad to hear that they decide to take the test though they are supposed to study very hard to prepare for the test. I am sure they are learning a lot when they prepare for the test and that may be the most important thing as a motivation of learning a foreign language.

Anyway it is time for me to plan the lesson schedule during my stay there. I would like you to think about taking a face-to-face lesson with me while I am there, please. I will send you a mail with a schedule document file with which I hope you can schedule to have a lesson with me. I will arrive there on Thanksgiving, November 27th, and will stay there for 14 days, leaving there on December 11th. I will stay at the same hotel as before and would like to have lessons in my hotel room.

Hope I can see as many members as possible when I come back to NY this time. Looking forward to seeing you. See you soon.

Awaji Island Festival on August 2nd.

Kris participated in Awaji Island festival on August 2nd. There were two types of dancing: male style and female style. As you can see, Kris danced male style. It was fun and I just wanted to introduce this to the members as one of Japanese culture. Hope you will enjoy the photos.

More Photos Of On-line Lessons

It has been longer than one month since On-line lessons of 日本語 With Kris started in June. It seems to be working very well. And Kris has now five on-line lesson students and one of them is a girl, who is the first femail on-line student. Kris is really happy with them. Here are some more photos of them.

Finally On-line Lesson Started

Hello, everyone!

Kris finally started on-line lessons in the first week of June. It is now one month since then, and it seems to be working very well, which makes Kris so happy. Yes, I am very happy with this. There are four on-line students so far, and, what is better, one of them is a new member of '日本語 With Kris', which means Kris met that student online for the first time. It was a little difficult to have the exact first lesson with a new student without face-to-face meeting each other before, but I'd say nothing was difficult any longer after the second lesson.

I may not be allowed to put the name of this here, but this is a personal blog page. So maybe OK, but I really want to say that 'skype' is super, super great. Thanks to skype, we can have 0n-line lessons. We can also use 'skype' chatting to write down and show it to each other during the lesson which is very useful. So far, so good! I hope every 0n-line student feels the same way as I, and this will help others taking on-line lessons or even thinking of taking lessons.

Anyway let's enjoy studying Japanese on-line more, shall we?

Kris's Favorite City, White Plains

While I was in White Plains this time, I took a short walk in the city of White Plains when I had a spare time. Every time I fly there, I find myself feeling so comfortable as if it were my home town. I love White Plains, though the apartment where I used to live has already been torn down and there is no more evidence of my living there. These have nothing with 日本語 With Kris, but I woudl like to show a few photos of the city I took this time. White Plains.......such a wonderful city........ I love it. Hope you will also enjoy the photos .

Thank You For Taking Lessons With Kris, In May

I finally fly back to Japan safely. It was great to see many of you in NY. And I really enjoyed having lessons with you. More and more enjoyable! And I was also impressed a lot by some of you, who have been making a big progress in studying Japanese. I do hope '日本語 With Kris' is helping you with your study Japanese even a little, and will help you to be more confident to speak Japanese to Japanese people when you have much of a chance to come to Japan. I hope none of you will mind my adding those pictures I took while I was there this time to this blog page.

Thank you very much for coming to my hotel and taking lessons with me.

New Lesson Fees Of "日本語 With Kris"

Kris hates to announce this and is very, very sorry for announcing this, but Kris now has to ask all the members of "日本語 With Kris" to allow her to raise the lesson fee.

Kris hopes all the members can understand her situation: falling in an enormous red every time she flies.

She would like all the members to accept the new lesson fee, which is as follows.

The one-on-one lesson (one and a half hours): $40.00
The group lesson (more than two members, one and a half hours): $30.00 per a member
The on-line lesson (one-on-one, one hour): the same as before $25.00

She does hope all the members can understand how difficult it was for her to decide to announce this in this blog page.

Best Regards,

Kris Is Coming Back To NY At The End OF May, 2008

I have just decided to fly back to NY at the end of May. I will arrive in White Plains on May 21st and will leave there on 27th. So I will stay there only for 6 nights next time, but I would really like you to try taking as many lessons with me as possible while I am there. You can take a lesson any time on weekdays and weekend. Either will be fine: one-on-one private lesson or group lesson. Just send Kris a mail (Japanese_Kris@hotmail.com) when you can plan when to want to take a lesson, please. Or of course, when you have any questions.

Lessons will be held at a hotel room where I will stay. The hotel is the same as last time: Esplanade at White Plains. (95 S Broadway White Plains, NY 10601, +1 914-761-8100 The entrance is on Lion Pl.)

I am really looking forward to seeing all the members of "日本語 With Kris". See you in about a month!

Lessons "日本語 With Kris" February - March, 2008

I should have added this comment long time before, but we had another "日本語 with Kris" at the end of February and the beginning of March, 2008. That was the second classes in NY. I should have taken more photos from my classes, but I would say it was difficult for me never to fail taking photos of classes while I was concentrating on lessons. Only in private lessons, I could manage to take photos, at the end of the class, this time.

I was a little disappointed this time because I could not have as many lessons as I had expected because of members' schedule though I tried letting them know that I was coming. It is sometimes very difficult to make a plan to have lessons without contacting members directly. So I really want to try contacting you, members, directly from next time, asking your schedule. I hope we will be able to make a plan through e-mail stuff. I will try talking to you as individually as possible from next time I plan to fly to NY.

I was very happy to see two new people, though. I would like them to stay with "日本語With Kris" though one of them is not living in NY. It may be difficult for her to join us, but I would like her to know that the door of "日本語With Kris" is always open for her. And, of course, it is possible to have on-line lessons wherever you may live in the world though no one is taking on-line lessons so far.......... Hope I will be able to report you about on-line lessons soon.

Anyway thank you very much for joining "日本語 With Kris", taking a lesson with Kris this time. Kris had a great time with you and hope you had a great time with Kris too. Kris is waiting for any of you to write a comment in this blog page.

Kris will plan to have another lesson with you in NY soon if you want. Hope many of you will be able to join next time.

See you soon!

Our First Classes, November 7th and 10th, 2007

The lessons were at the house of Warren & Patty. Without their help, '日本語 With Kris' would
not have been realized.
Thank you so much for letting us use your place, Warren and Patty!
And thank you very much for preparing pick-up food and soft drink, Patty!

We Started '日本語 With Kris'

Hello, everyone!

あけまして おめでとうございます。

I should have opened this blog long time before, but we finally started a Japanese study group, '日本語 With Kris' in Westchester, NY last November, with a lot of help from Warren & Patty Young and Tom Maclaghlin. I really appreciate their help.

Our first lesson was composed from 2 lessons: the introductory lesson and the real first lesson. There were seven members and they were beginners. They learned a lot, considering it was the first experience of Japanese for most of them. I was happy and I hope so they were.

I just want to open this blog page for members to communicate with each other and ask Kris any questions. Hope everyone can type in both English and Japanese. And I will really appreciate everyone's time to drop a line in this blog. So please feel free to write anything and ask any qestions, please.

Look forward to hearing from someone.

Kris
